Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH is the Salzgitter Group's research institute staffed by about 300 specialists in eight departments, who conduct extensive R&D into steel and steel processing at locations in Salzgitter and Duisburg.

- Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung is currently developing innovative automated strategies for the production of welded joints as part of a project directed at the industrial manufacture of offshore wind jackets.
